Born in Caivano (Naples) in 1949, Antonio Nocera attended the Naples Art Institute and the Napoli Fine Arts Academy to study painting, sculpture, scenography, leather manufacturing, ceramic and all printing techniques. Throughout the 1970s, the budding artist lived in Rome, Parma and Milan, where he held his first exhibitions. He later moved to Venice, Switzerland, France, Belgium and UK, seeking new experiences and to follow his instincts as a curious and insatious traveller.

In the meantime, Nocera created masterpieces in collaboration with international institutions such as the European Parliament, UNESCO, the United Nations and UNICEF. In 1988, Nocera moved to Rome, working with the State Mint and Polygraphic Institute and with the Parliament. In the following year, the Committee for the French Revolution Bicentenary celebrations officially offered him an exhibition at the European Parliament in Strasbourg.

In 2002, Nocera introduced the illustrated book, “The Adventures of Pinocchio – Story of a Puppet” in Rome at the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities. In the same year, he inaugurated the exhibition “Pinocchio et la Lune” first at the Paris Municipality then at the European Parliament in Brussels, with a presentation from Giorgio Napolitano. In Castelgandolfo in 2003, Maestro Antonio Nocera was received by Pope John Paul II, for whom he realised the “Sacred Images” enamel collection.

Two years later, under the sanction of Pope Benedict XVI, his sculpture “Chirstus Patiens” was positioned on the altar of the Santo Spirito dei Napoletani Church in Rome and the relative exhibition inaugurated. In 2006, Nocera completed a bronze monument for the 50th Anniversary of the Marcinelle mine tragedy in Belgium. In the same year, he inaugurated his personal exhibition “Once Upon a Time…”, with over 150 sculptures, paintings and drawings at the Monumental Complex of San Michele a Ripa, Rome.

In 2010, President of Italy Giorgio Napolitano inaugurated the exhibition “Oltre il Nido” (Beyond the Nest) at the Mercati di Traiano in Rome. In 2011, Nocera took part in the 54th Biennale di Venezia (Arsenal, Maiden’s Garden) with an installation. At the behest of the Ambassador for Italy, Antonio Morabito, Nocera set up an installation titled “Oltre il Mare” (Beyond the Sea) in the Grimaldi Forum Esplanade in Montecarlo, inaugurated by H.R.H. Caroline de Hanover. In 2013, Nocera held another exhibition entitled “I Libri d’Acqua” (The Books of Water).

For the 2015 Expo in Milan, Nocera presented a work regarding the topic of migration, at the exhibition “The Treasure of Italy” by Vittorio Sgarbi. In 2016, Nocera was received by His Holiness Pope Francis to show his new work on Pinocchio. Nocera presented the first volume of his General Catalogue to S.A.S. Prince Albert of Monaco in 2017. Since 2016 it has been present in various luxury hotels with its “Emotional Paths” with paintings and sculptures set in gardens or suites, as part of the “Art meets Hospitality” project (Four Seasons Hotel in Florence, Hotel Il Principe di Savoia a Milan, Palazzo Petrucci in Naples, Il San Lorenzo in Rome, San Montano Resort in Ischia, Masardona in Rome). During the NIAF gala in Washington his “Pinocchio Suitcase” was auctioned in 2017, and the his new “Pulcinella’s Artist Book”, in 2018. In 2019, he presents the solo show ``Fairy Tales`` in the rooms of the Royal Apartments of the Royal Palace of Monza (MI). In 2020 he exhibited in Pietrasanta (LU) the exhibition “Il Sogno. Eterno Presente ”, in the San Leone room. One of his permanent personal exhibition on Pinocchio is at Dantocchio Museum of Florence.
